Food-iing | Fitzgerald Seafood Restaurant

On nights where we are completely lazy to cook, Fitzgerald Seafood Restaurant is probably our first pick. (Second being Siena's, foodication coming soon)

This was one of the nights that we decided, no cooking, lets eat out. We frequent this place a few too many times which brings me to dishes that we would normally order.

The Hot and Sour soup is a must have, this soup makes its name proud. Pig's Stomach is probably my favourite internal organ, not for everyone, but our entire family loves it. Sweet and Sour pork ribs, slightly different to the ones without bones, but delicious all the same. (My favourite is at James St Kitchen, but as they closed down a while ago, (it is now Meet Fresh) we come here for it instead). Finally, their spinach broth with three types of egg is pretty amazing.

Great for those lazy nights, and with fruits and desserts after the dinner, its a complete package.

Food-iing | Rockpool Bar & Grill

I don't know any other way to start this post than: IT WAS AWESOME.

I know a few people who would disagree with me based on other elements (or lack thereof) but from what I had that day, it was amazing, continuously amazing.

The beef was beautifully grilled, the sides were delicious, even if we had what would be considered normal (can't forget the chips). We managed to be seated in the private room, so there was sufficient lighting for photography. The rest of the restaurant however was dimly lit, with only a small amount of lighting for each table.

I thoroughly enjoyed my night, and will be back, but definitely for special occasions, as prices are not for the faint hearted, especially with only a slice of lemon accompanying a $50 plate of steak.

Food-iing | Harvest Espresso

Sunday Brunches could possibly be the best thing ever, and with places like Harvest Espresso, it makes it even better.

We met up with a couple of friends, and  having heard of Harvest Espresso, I was excited that it was the destination chosen. In hindsight, we should have researched for places big enough for tables of 6, however we made do with sitting outside, the waitresses giving us two tables to pull together.

There were a few different dishes on the menu that day, but I decided for something safe, with Chicken and Winter Vegetables Sandwich, others had the Salmon Gravlax, Mushroom Omelette (Not pictured) and Full Breakfast. Drinks were Iced and Hot Matcha Lattes, Chais and Lattes.

Harvest Espresso lives up to its hype, but with such a small cafe, groups bigger than 4 is really not recommended.

Food-iing | Nishi Japanese Restaurant

Having not been to Nishi for about two years, the boy and I decided to hop in one day to check it out. We were pleasantly surprised to see a teppanyaki table, new decor and chairs. The place looks decidedly grand. We were seated and handed menus, and it slightly bittersweet to see that the menus are still the same. On one hand, we know what we would order, on the other, maybe they could have changed it up to include new items. Either way, we weren't fussed.

We ordered a Chirashi Don and a Sashimi Don, and goodness, it was fresh and delicious. They were generous (at $27 and $28 each, they would have to be) and I enjoyed everything on my tray, including the salad.

The boy and I still reminisce about the delicious sashimi that we had that day, so we will definitely be back, but maybe for a special occasion.

Food-iing | Zensaki

Zensaki was one of the first sushi trains that I've been to in Perth. Located on one of the busier streets in Perth, the place is always quite full.

We tried a few different dishes from them, 3 from the sushi train, and a chirashi don. I had a cold soba noodle, however, being extremely hungry, it slipped my mind to take a photo of it.

The chirashi don was generous and fresh, and the same can be said with the three sushi plates. It was not my first time there, so the sushi that I chose were ones that I have tried and love.

Zensaki is great for the hungry and not so hungry, with menu items as well as the train, it will satisfy different levels of appetites.

Food-iing | El Publico

Cottage Cheese Cabbage
Beef Tacos
Chicken Tacos
Vegetarian bean tacos
Chocolate sauce lamb
Salmon

El Publićo is a chic little mexican restaurant on Beaufort St. I was surprise to find that 70% of the menu consists of  alcoholic drinks and only half a page belongs to their variety of food which explains the ceiling to counter wall of alcohol when you first walk in.

I dare say that between 7-8 of us, we tried almost all of the dishes, and because their serving are quite small, we had to double the dishes that we ordered. The dishes were enjoyable, some more than others, but it would be great as an after work tapas and drinks spot, which is probably what it is intended to be, as we were probably the only patrons at 1pm on a Saturday.

Overall a great experience and fun dining location

Food-iing | Noodle Forum

Noodle Forum at Equus Retail Arcade opened up quite a while ago but I didn't manage to go visit them till recently. The shop is quite small with a bar type sitting and normal tables. When you walk further up into the Arcade, there is usually the chef making the noodles, using a long and thick wooden stick.
I had the normal wonton noodles, while the boy had the Laksa spicy soup version. He went there before with his family and really enjoyed it so we went together. He did mention that the prawns are smaller than when he first went (This was when they first opened) but that's minor detail.
I enjoyed the soup and the noodles, and the inclusion of two pieces of fried wonton skin is a nice touch. Will be back to try different things on their menu!

Food-iing | Ciao Italia

Having been to Ciao Italia many times before this review, I have been slacking in the "review" department. I say review with inverted commas due to me not being a critique of any kind, with that said, lets get into it.

I was introduced to Ciao Italia by a few friends and have been back many times for birthdays and  random obsessions with Italian food. This group of photos was taken from the latter, when my sister asked to have Italian food constantly till we caved.

With no bookings allowed, you can expect people to start queuing as early as 4.00pm when they open at 5.00pm. They are also closed on Sundays and Mondays, so don't make the same mistake that I did and waiting for 30 minutes on a Monday then checking to realise that I was not going to get any Italian that day.

Their specials are usually always the Black Ink Pasta with either a red or white sauce (which is something we will definitely order) and Chilli Mussels is a crowd favourite. I'm not a big fan of their pizzas, but with that said, they have a nice crust and they aren't too shy on ingredients.

We love their Tiramisu, but felt like their strawberry tart that day, both of which are delicious albeit a little filling after 2 pastas, a pizza and a huge bowl of chilli mussels.

A family favourite for many I'm sure, but definitely prepare to wait for a while if you don't get there early.
